Photography is my way of seeking answers to some of life's most seemingly intractable questions. It is a journey of discovery and understanding.
The question I have been pursuing for more than three decades is: what happens to what we try to create, try to build, try to maintain, try to preserve?
We spend so much of our lives attempting, each in our own way, to leave indelible footprints that will outlast usin our homes, in our families, in our communities, and in our work. On a daily basis, we fight against the encroachment of dust and decay, but time erases and nature reclaims.
I have spent the past three decades photographing this stunning nexus between death and rebirth, all over the world. While some might turn away from these monuments to the very nature of life, I venture into try to understand more about the realities of endings and beginnings.
In 2007, I traveled to five different parts of the world to photograph. I am presenting a show of these new works, Journeys, for the first time at RiverWinds Gallery. Read more... |
